Installing ferrite beads on power cables requires adherence to specific guidelines; selecting the right location, method, and installation details is crucial for maximizing interference suppression.

 

Key Installation Location Requirements
Prioritize Proximity to the Interference Source: The ferrite bead must be placed as close as possible to the power cable's entry or exit point on the device. This intercepts interference signals-whether entering from the power grid or radiating outward from the device-at the earliest possible stage, significantly improving EMC compliance results.
Avoid Placing Away from Ports: If the bead is installed in the middle of the power cable, the cable section preceding the bead can radiate interference signals, thereby diminishing the overall suppression effectiveness.

 

Common Installation Methods
Direct Pass-Through Method
Pass the entire power cable directly through the center hole of the ferrite bead without additional winding. This method is suitable for suppressing high-frequency interference and offers simple installation without the need for auxiliary accessories.
Note: Both the live and neutral wires must pass through the bead simultaneously and in the same direction. The opposing currents in the two wires cancel each other out, preventing the ferrite core from reaching saturation and ensuring stable interference suppression performance.

 

Winding Method
For low-frequency interference scenarios, wrap the power cable around the ferrite bead 2 to 3 times; increasing the number of turns enhances suppression in the low-frequency range.
Note:Do not exceed 5 turns, as doing so significantly reduces high-frequency interference suppression capabilities, making it impossible to achieve effective filtering across the entire frequency spectrum.
